Czech Republic not to participate in to buy US arms for Ukraine
The statement follows U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent unveiling of a NATO-backed agreement in which several allied nations—including Germany, the UK, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands, and Canada—will fund large-scale arms acquisitions from U.S. manufacturers to be delivered directly to Ukraine.
Fiala explained that Prague is prioritizing alternative forms of support for Kyiv. "The Czech Republic is focusing on other projects and ways to help Ukraine," he told local media.
Later the same day, the Czech Ministry of Defense confirmed its alignment with the prime minister's stance, stating it currently has no plans to join the weapons procurement effort.
